How we collect data
- Every row comes from a public page we read (forum post, seller page, or seller price list a member posted). The source link is on every row.
- When a page blocked automated reading, we used the search engine's preview text for that page. Those rows are marked "snippet".
- We record the plan, term, deductible, vehicle, price, whether it was paid or only quoted, and whether it came from the selling dealer's finance office or an online/out-of-area dealer, all as the poster described them. If they didn't say, we leave it blank. We never fill in a guess.
- "Date" is the date of the forum post. For prices read straight off a seller's website, it's the date we viewed the page.
- "Seller price list" rows are full price sheets that one seller emailed to a forum member or published. They are shown in the table but left out of the summary medians so a single sheet doesn't dominate.
- Medians and ranges are computed only from rows in the dataset, and the row count is always shown.
